Hi all,

Team Australia are currently in a town called Mora, 4 hours north of stockholm.  Everyone is training hard and keeping our medical team busy.  There have been no major injuries to date.

The venue we are training at is great.  The 2nd court has been set up as a dorm - which is a bit much, my back is looking forward to a better bed Smiley.  so far we have played 2 matches - our first hit out as a team was against Kais Mora Jets u/19.  We started very slowly and let in 3 early goals within the 1st 20min.  After that the team improved steadily.  The 2nd game was against their senior team who play 2nd div.  A quaulity young team.  The final result was 4 - 14.  In all the team played well and can take many positives from the match.  We played against a system most players haven\'t seen before which proved a challenge.  Everyone improved as the match went on.

All the vic guys are performing well.

Keep the good wish\'s cooming!!!

Hey Guys,

I know about now you are getting tired and just want to start the the Champs, but be patient and enjoy the trianing and the time together to sort out your team play systems. You guys all play best when you relax and enjoy yourselves - just do that and I\'m sure everything will go well. Best of luck - we are following your progress closely.

Special good luck to the Viking boys!!! Wink
Cheers,

Hi all,

sorry for delay in the updates.  Life in sweden has been busy.  There is only 1 day to go until WFC06 kicks off and 2 days until Team Australia open their campaign against slovenia.

Everyone has been training hard with a mix bag of results.  The team has progresivly come together and have played some good floorball against some quality teams (including some elite division teams consisting of some national players).  We had a couple hicups along the way but they should be ironed out before face-off.

The Vic guys are really coming along.  Prepare for some new and improved players upon our return.

Former Victorian Warren (Wazza) Mazurek has been named captain and myself vice-captain.

Our last game saw 5 players come out injured - all are expected to be able to play come Monday.

Janne Iinoven - ankle
Kris Collopy - ankle
Mark Benfield - neck / back
Ben Monckton - ankle
scott o\'brien - hamstring

Don\'t forget you can watch live comentry on the WFC website (www.wfc2006.org)

Go Aussie!!!

Hi Boys,

RE: Australia vs Slovenia

Firstly, unlucky against Slovenia. I was watching your game very closely on http://www.wfc2006.org and no doubt it was a very slow start where Slovenia slotted 2 goals in less then 4 minutes. And when Mike Woods scored the 1st goal for Australia, I was so proud and alive!! Well done Woodsy!! I was over the moon when O’Brien scored the equalizer 2-2 (assisted by Hammer) on the start of the 2nd period. And when young Daniel Clay put Aussie to a 3-2 lead (assisted by O’Brien), I nearly fell off my couch!!

Although it was a lost, you really had shaken Slovenia with a 3-2 lead during the early 2nd period. Stats at that point showed it is possible to do well against a respected team.

Forget about the result now; focus on your next game against Singapore.

Goal percentage counts so shoot as many goals and block those shots at goal. Defend comes first! I always like to say, play smart, be strong and do your very BEST!!

Good Luck.

Hi all,

Not the greatest start to our 2006 World Championship campaign.  A nervous start saw us down 0-2 after 4min.  Team Australia found their feet after about 10min and worked their way back into the game.  A great goal by Mike Woods saw the score back to 1-2.  Ben Monckton fought hard for the ball late in the 1st period to earn Australia a powerplay.

Australia only had 33sec of the powerplay left at the start of the 2nd period.  They only needed 18 with scott o\'brien scoring a nice goal assisted by David Hammond.  Only 4min later Mark Benfield opened up slovenia with the opening move with an offload to scott o\'briend.  Daniel Clay worked himself into the \"backcentre\" to recieve the pass before casually slotting it into the net.  slovenia then made use of a powerplay to level the scores.

The game remained tight, but Australia weren\'t able to make use of their opportunities.  In all it was a good game and the Aussies were still the 1,000 strong crowd favourites.  One young player (Damien Monckton) being mobbed, chassed and pinned to the wall just to get his valuable autograph.

Tomorrow - look out singapore (1230am AET)

I am sure that all the Australian players played well. I think all of us wish we could be there and cheer you on and proudly wear the gold and green.

Now reload, recharge, and give the Singapore team a game to remember, just do it!!

Good luck!

Bad luck guys!

Singapore won with 1 goal and they scored 2 goals in power play. According to Swedish media Australia was  the better team with 5 players on the field, there is only so much you can do with one player less on the field!

It was so close I reckon, I was biting my nails! Now go get the Dutch, fight on! We\'ll be watching.
